Η Ολυμπιακή Φλόγα στα Γιαννιτσά-Yiannitsa welcomes the Olympic Flame




Many Yiannitsiotes went to pezodromos to welcome the Olympic Flame. A light rain did not stop them and their kids to watch the event.
A few minutes before four o'clock, Viron Thomaides gave the flame to Elli Mistakidou co-joined by Nikolete Pavlidou.
Natioanl Hymns of Greece and China were followed by the Olympic Hymn.
Mayor of Yiannitsa Nikos Papanikolaou said that Yiannitsa welcomes the fllame with respect...joy...The journey of the flame is a bridge among ancient and contemporary times...We wish that the flame will warm everybody's hearts...we have past and future..."

Celebrating March 25th 1821-Εορτάζοντας την 25η Μαρτίου 1821







The rain stopped a few minutes before the parade for the celebration of March 25th 1821.
Authorities and people watched the parade of students and soldiers at pezodromos, Yiannitsa.
It started at noon and lasted for thirty minutes.

Koulouma 2008 at Yiannitsa-Εορτή Καθαράς Δευτέρας 2008 στα Γιαννιτσά

Με μπόλικη λαγάνα, χαλβά, κρασί και φασολάδα, οι Γιαννιτσιώτες εόρτασαν και εφέτο την Καθαρά Δευτέρα, στο Ελευθεροχώρι στο χώρο τών κατασκηνώσεων.
Από νωρίς το πρωί, είχε αρχίσει να μαζεύεται ο κόσμος. Οι περισσότεροι έφτασαν γύρω στις δώδεκα το μεσημέρι και κάθισαν μέχρι αργά το απόγευμα.
Δεν ήταν λίγοι και αυτοί που πέταξαν τούς παραδοσιακούς χαρταετούς.
Ο Δήμος Γιαννιτσών, όπως κάθε χρόνο, προσέφερε τα παραδοσιακά εδέσματα και μουσική. Μετά την έλευση τών επισήμων, στήθηκε και ο παραδοσιακός χορός από τούς επισκέπτες.
The Annual Koulouma Luncheon took place in Eleftherohori for the celebration of Clean Monday, (Kathara Deftera) on March 10.
Music, traditional food (halva, wine, fasolada, lagana) was provided by the City of Giannitsa.
By 11 a.m., many people started to come, but most visitors showed up by noon.
They stayed until late in the afternoon, dancing and trying to fly kites.
